Behind the Scenes of HGTV House Hunters International

Decision scene from HGTV House Hunters International in Slovenia.

My son’s decision to move to Slovenia was featured on the HGTV hit reality show House Hunters International. It was the premiere episode of Season 136, airing on January 8, 2019 in the US. No spoilers here! Just a couple of blogs to take you behind the scenes of our 5-day shoot in West Covina, California and Ljubljana, the charming capital of Slovenia.

Now that the program has aired, it’s been fun to hear from the viewers. Some thought we were a bit too pushy and should give Andrew some space! One person even suggested that we “get a puppy.” So let me just clear up that we are proud of our son and give him a lot more personal space than it would appear on the show.

While I plan to visit my son in his new home, I’ll still be talent coaching in the US. TV station visits and websites that do video are my core business. I also offer individual talent performance coaching in person and via Skype. I try to take on at least one international project per year.

The conflict and the game show aspect of the format — guessing which house we’ll pick — is part of the fun.

It was a pleasure to work with the thoroughly professional crews from Leopard USA. Thanks, HGTV, for letting my family share our story with the world. Keep an eye out for re-runs of the show, or watch on the HGTV app.
